A little about us...
Pulling from various inspirations across genres, Byrd Law falls under the all-encompassing style of Americana, with blues and rock at the forefront. With each member bringing different writing and playing styles to the table, their music is a melting pot of upbeat grooves and thoughtful lyrics.
Byrd Law is comprised of four members: Alice Doskocil, rhythm guitar and vocals; Parker Stotts, lead guitar and vocals; John Farley, drums and vocals; Jenay Patterson Farley, vocals.
As with most budding musicians, Alice, Parker, and Jenay all met in 2006 after joining a garage band that had teen-aged members from both Crosby, Texas, where Parker and Alice grew up, and Mont Belvieu, Texas, the neighboring town from which Jenay hails. Although they quickly learned that a 10-piece ska band was incredibly difficult to herd, the three remained close friends after the group disbanded until college forced them to go their separate ways for the time being.
Around the same time, John, a longtime musician and Louisiana native, was touring Texas with a folk rock group called Unfaithful. During that time, he met Jenay (now his wife) at one of their shows in Baytown, and later moved to Texas to be with her. John went on to start another band called John Farley and the Wild Turkeys.
After reconnecting in 2012, Alice, Jenay, and John spent a few years playing small acoustic shows here and there in the greater Houston area, mainly in a song-swap format. The group pulled Parker back into their fold once they started working on what would eventually be called "Article I", which was recorded in John's small home studio.
In the midst of recording old songs from Alice and John, they found a new sound that seemed to mesh together all of their roots of folk, rock, blues, and country (which they fondly refer to as "disco western"), and also--after a much harder struggle--a band name.
Currently, Byrd Law is playing small venues in and around Houston, while working on their second EP.
